Greetings!
Over the past two weeks, the KLA Student Council's Fundraising Committee (composed of myself, Tawheed Jamal, Nebiyou Essa, Dan Tran, and Eli McNeill) have been working on a T-Shirt fundraiser to replace the art auction at KLA's Multicultural Night. I am excited to announce that this T-Shirt fundraiser has been one of KLA's most successful fundraising projects, and everyone loves the shirts!
The Brainstorm Stage
We kicked things off by gathering as a team and discussing how to replace the art auction. After some discussion, we landed on selling a limited edition T-Shirt. We explored different themes, design ideas, and ways to make the shirts meaningful for Multicultural Night. This stage involved lots of idea-sharing, sketching, and excitement as we narrowed down our vision.
Designing and Planning
Once we settled on a direction, we got to work designing the T-shirts and mapping out our logistics. We collaborated on artwork, selected colors, and planned the order process. It was important to us that the shirts reflected the diversity and creativity of our school community. We also discussed pricing, quantities, and how we would market them leading up to the event.
Making Shirts
After finalizing the design, we worked with the KLA Griffin Gear printing company to bring our vision to life. We were involved in choosing materials, reviewing prototypes, and making sure every detail came out just right. The excitement really started to build when we saw the first batch of shirts in person! Pressing and adjusting shirts was a fun, hands-on process, and I am so grateful to have helped out with it.
Reflecting on the Impact
This project taught us a lot - not just about fundraising, but about teamwork, leadership, and what it takes to turn an idea into reality. It was amazing to see the community respond so positively, and we’re proud to have contributed something meaningful to Multicultural Night. We hope this fundraiser sets a new standard for future student-led initiatives at KLA. I am so honored to have been part of one of KLA's most successful fundraisers, twice!
